New Etchings

This page contains a selection of Jim’s more recent etchings, some of which are light and colorful, and others which reveal a darker side.

Humour forms a strong part of Jim’s work, some of which is playful […] much of which is dark.

While Jim is at heart a local artist, he has has traveled to Japan on several occasions as both his sons now live there. The influence of the country is clear with the warm beautiful simplicity of the cherry blossom in a vase, and the evocative “Traveler in the Snow”, in the cool blues and whites of winter, with a snow lit Mount Fuji in the background.

Humour forms a strong part of Jim’s work, some of which is playful, such as the blue Picasso caravan, and much of which is dark. The chips and chip fork has a clearly identifiable rat as part of the meal, the homage to Whistler is titled “Lady on Fire”, and one of the ballerina’s legs is a stump.
