Jim spent most of 2003 involved in a ‘Boots’ project that saw the production of sketches, ink drawings and paintings of various sizes. The culmination of this work are these large canvasses.
The inspiration for this project is clearly Van Gogh.
The inspiration for this project is clearly Van Gogh, who painted boots on several occasions, but instead of realistic depictions of boots in their surroundings, Jim has used the pallete of both Starry Night and Sunflowers, as well as the cerulean blue of the southern french sky to create a personal homage to the Dutchman.
